About this PEI

The Institute of Water, founded in 1945, is the only professional body that exclusively supports the careers of anyone working in the UK water sector. It supports the careers of people working in all professions and at all levels across the industry by offering a unique and independent learning, development and networking framework.

The Institute of Water offers members a structured approach to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) via an online framework, an online mentoring programme, regional learning opportunities, a quarterly magazine and a biannual technical Journal; as well as online access to relevant industry information.

It also offers Professional Registration (https://www.instituteofwater.org.uk/engineering-registration/) at all levels in Engineering. It is licensed by the Engineering Council to register Engineering Technicians (EngTech), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Chartered Engineers (CEng). The Institute provides full support to members during the application and assessment process. It also offers Professional Registration for Environment and Science.

Each year the Institute of Water holds a National Conference which is regarded as one of the highlights of the water sector calendar. Every six months it holds specialist one-day conferences, rotating the disciplines of Engineering, Environment and Science which are free for members to attend. The Institute’s Area Committees run regular learning and development events that include webinars, site visits, seminars and social events.
