Wastewater Treatment And Our Rural Communities

14 February 2019
Glyndwr Meeting Room Kinmel Park Depot, Royal Welch Avenue, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, LL18 5TQ

In Dwr Cymru Welsh Water there are currently over 400 small Wastewater Treatment Works serving a catchment area of 250 population equivalent or below.

With the change in climate and growth of population it is important to be proactive and start looking into more cost effective and environmentally friendly methods of treating wastewater. As part of the DCWW overseas research awards, Victoria Collier (Wastewater Service Graduate for DCWW), visited a research institute (IRSTEA) in Lyon, France.

France have had great success in the effective wastewater treatment of small rural communities through the use of Vertical Flow Wetland Treatment Works.

Join Victoria to find out what she has learned about this innovative technology and the benefits it could bring to the rural communities and the environment back here in the UK.
